Small Group

A year ago or so, My family decided to give this new thing our church was promoting a try, it was called "small groups". The purpose or goal was to build personal relationships within the church body that would enable the building up of and strengthening individuals and families for effective spiritual growth. To become part of this small group meant we would have to show up at another family's home and meet many new people. This in itself is not such a daunting thing for me, yet I must admit I had butterflies in my stomach prior to arriving the first time. I overcame and soon knew that I was in the right place.
Our first year was both uplifting and challenging. Being part of this group meant that others would hold me accountable and challenge me in areas of my life that I would have preferred to keep private. Though the setting was comfortable, the topics we covered and studied were piercing at times. I had to look inward often. Never once though, did I feel like I was being judged by the others in our group, actually I always felt supported and encouraged to confront my challenges.
This week we will begin our second season with our local small group, a group that will have some new faces and perspectives. I am looking forward to growing in my faith and learning more about our Savior. May the Lord bless our group

Breaking In to Blogging

I'm not really sure why, but I felt the time was right to begin a blog. Perhaps I feel like I have alot to share. Maybe I just want an opportunity to be heard. Whatever the reason, I am here and ready to blog.
I want to first say that I have very little experience with putting my thoughts into written (text) context. I assume that I will make mistakes and ask that you bear with me. I look forward to sharing with you!
